Quick checks before you begin

  • Read the current machine manual and record the full lubricant specification
  • Separate consistency grade from performance specification
  • Confirm the climate range and start-up conditions
  • Request the product data sheet, batch identity and package size
  • Plan any product change as a controlled maintenance decision

Why spindle grease is a specialized row-unit lubricant

A cotton picker row unit asks one lubricant to work across high-speed spindle assemblies, porous bushings, cam-track contacts and drive gears. That combination is why a generic grease description is not enough for product approval.

John Deere's published spindle-grease literature describes requirements that include high-speed anti-wear performance, flow into lower-bar and bushing areas, film strength for cam and gear contacts, corrosion protection and useful behavior across operating temperatures.

Read NLGI grade and machine specification as different fields

NLGI grade describes grease consistency. It does not by itself prove the complete additive system, base-oil behavior, material compatibility or row-unit performance required by a machine manufacturer.

John Deere literature identifies its standard cotton picker spindle grease as NLGI 00 and states conformance to JDN 380 and JDN 360. The same literature identifies JDN 360T as a tropical-climate formulation with NLGI 0 consistency. These references should be checked against the current manual for the exact machine and market.

Fields to compare on a spindle-grease offer
FieldWhat it tells the buyerRequired evidence
Machine specificationThe manufacturer performance requirementManual reference and supplier declaration
NLGI gradeThe stated consistency classProduct data sheet
Climate rangeCold start and hot-operation suitabilityPublished temperature or application guidance

Do not approve from NLGI 00 alone

Two products can share a consistency grade and still have different performance claims. Match the complete machine specification and documented application evidence.

Control a lubricant change before the season

  • Record the product currently in use, specification, batch and observed condition.
  • Ask the machine manufacturer or qualified lubricant supplier whether the proposed product is approved for the application.
  • Confirm whether the previous and proposed products can be mixed and whether a purge or cleaning procedure is required.
  • Trial the approved change under controlled conditions before peak harvest demand.
  • Monitor pumpability, leakage, temperature, deposits and abnormal wear under the machine procedure.
  • Keep the approved product and lot record with the maintenance history.

Spindle grease purchasing checklist

  • Machine brand, model, year and row-unit configuration
  • Exact lubricant specification from the current manual
  • Operating climate and storage conditions
  • Annual consumption estimate and required package sizes
  • Product data sheet and any manufacturer approval statement
  • Batch traceability, shelf-life information and sealed-package condition
  • Local support for compatibility and changeover questions
Information guide, not a lubricant offer

YUCHENG HARVEST does not currently list spindle grease for sale. This guide supports maintenance decisions and related spindle-parts inquiries.

Questions buyers and technicians ask

Is every NLGI 00 grease suitable for a cotton picker?

No. NLGI grade describes consistency only. Confirm the complete machine specification, application evidence and current manual requirement.

What do JDN 380 and JDN 360 mean in spindle-grease literature?

They are John Deere cotton picker spindle-lubricant specifications cited in the manufacturer's published literature. Use the current machine documentation to determine which requirement applies.

Can spindle grease brands be mixed?

Do not assume compatibility. Ask the machine manufacturer or qualified lubricant supplier for an approved changeover and compatibility procedure.

Does YUCHENG HARVEST sell cotton picker grease?

Not in the current public catalog. The company supplies replacement parts and publishes this guide to help buyers document the correct maintenance context.
