Start with identification. These guides cover spindles, doffers, picker bars, moisteners, drives, grid bars, pressure plates and cam tracks checks, not whole-machine diagnosis. Stop and isolate the machine before access; moving or raised components require the specified safety precautions.

Check the clutch jaws, pin pockets, gears, bushings, bearings and spring together. Keep the idler assembly separate from the gearcase clutch when preparing a repair or order.
